Based upon the hotel’s sustainability programme ‘Caring for our Environment’ the hotels main water saving  strategies are:

 

  1. Private Water Well
    • Talbot Hotel Clonmel has its own water well.
    • Advantages cited: reduced dependency on external supply, more reliable water access, potential for environmental benefits by reducing the energy/carbon footprint associated with transportation and treatment of water supplied from public systems.

 

  1. Real-time Monitoring & Leak Detection
    • We participate in a partnership with SMART FLOW, which gives real-time visibility into water usage and triggers alerts for unusual flow (possible leaks, misuse).
    • Monitoring intake and output of water to identify excessive use or leakage.

 

  1. Water-Saving Fixtures and Controls
    • Installed water-saving fixtures in conference areas, restrooms, kitchens.
    • Showers in the leisure centre have push-button use to ensure water only flows when needed.
    • Signage for guests to encourage reduced water use & reuse of towels.

 

  1. Water Well Quality Assurance / Independent Source
    • The well gives us more control over water quality for their own usage.

 

  1. Part of Broader Water Management Plan
    • Our Sustainable Management Plan (2024-2029) includes a Water Management & Minimisation Plan as a key pillar.
    • Our hotel is committed via its Green Hospitality / Eco-Label goals to meeting defined water usage criteria.
